Almost a Star: Roto-Rooter’s List of Celebrity Plumbers
Plumbing has been around for as long as humans have carried water from one place to another. That’s more than can be said for crafting on Etsy or writing SEO. Despite this, we’re noticing an increased need for the next generation of talented young people to consider taking on the mantle of being the plumbing hero
We’re not the only ones proud of the profession, however; the plumbing bug has bitten some surprising celebrities over the years. We’ve collected a few of our favorite examples for you to enjoy; call them our dream team if you will.

The Grandaddy of Loos
How could we not mention Thomas Crapper? This talented tradesman made his mark on history way back in the 1880s. Mr. Crapper was actually a designer who is responsible for the modern toilet design we enjoy today. He was so proud of his achievements that he took to printing his name on each one. A stamp of excellence. In fact, his name became so synonymous with toilets that it started to become slang for visiting the washroom. Which is how we ended up where we are now.
The Godfather of Plumbers
If you’re born after a certain year, the name John Gotti may not mean a lot to you, but let us save you a quick Google search by telling you a little bit about this impressive almost-plumber. Don Gotti was an infamous boss of the Gambino crime family and orchestrated his predecessor’s murder. He has also been described as America’s most powerful gang boss. Well, it’s a little known fact that dear John started his career as a humble plumbing salesman! In our opinion, he really should have stuck with the plumbing; he wouldn’t have ended up with those lengthy sentences and heavy fines.
The Coolest Plumber
“Some men just want to watch the world burn.” What a line! This is probably one of our favorite actors of all time and, in our opinion, was the real hero in the Batman trilogy. Before Sir Michael Caine got started working for the silver screen, he had spent a short time moonlighting as a plumber’s assistant. It must’ve been a hard career choice to make, but we appreciate his sacrifice and his contributions to the arts. The plumbing guild will always hold a special place for him!
The Most Famous Plumbing Duo
Are these our favorite plumbers of all time? No. Not by a long shot. But we can’t write a list of famous plumbers without mentioning them. Although they do seem to have a host of impressive skills, we just can’t see how jumping onto the head of a turtle makes them qualified plumbers. However, we’re not here to pick apart their doubtful qualifications. Did you know that in the original game concept, Mario was supposed to be a carpenter? We are happy to say that the designers quickly saw the light and changed him into a plumber.
The Darkest Plumber
This might be our favorite party fact of all time! And it just proves the fact that you should never judge the plumber by his cover, even if it is as a black prince of darkness. Ozzy Osbourne has sold over 100 million albums as well as completely redefining the music industry. Added to this impressive list of accomplishments, his time in service as a plumber’s apprentice means he’s also a dab hand at clearing a blocked drain. What a guy!
Plumbing might not be for everyone, but whether in this world or the digital Mushroom Kingdom, it’s definitely a rewarding job. We usually get called out when someone is experiencing an issue, but that doesn’t mean we get down about it. We love problem-solving and making our customers lives a little bit better and brighter.
